Arrival in Istanbul

Hi all,
They say history never repeats, I think I disagree.  Just like in 2009 (it was Kristin's suitcase) we arrived in Instanbul one piece of luggage short. This time it is a lot worse, it is my bag still sitting at Dubai airport. So if it looks like I'm  on the same clothes in photos you should understand. (Lucky I packed a pair of undies and socks in my backpack).
The trip over involved 3 legs ( 1 hour stopovers, just enough time to get off the plane go to the toilet and get back on) all in a 24 hour period. We flew with Emitates and overall it was pretty good, except the luggage. We sat in the back where the rows went 3 on the side to 2 on the side, plenty of room and surprisingly plenty of leg room between rows. Food was good for airline food. The leg from KL was not full and Kristin got to spread out in the middle 4 seats.
We arrived at our apartment
(Flamingo apartment ) @ 8pm local time. Great location. We are in the top apartment  in the block,  which provides great views of the Blue Mosque one way ( see photo) and the Marmara Sea the other.
After dropping our bags (oops bag) we went for a walk and a bite to eat. How much Humus, bread and lamb kebab (and in Kristin's  case Baklava) will we eat in the next few days? The local beer is Efes, a good quality lager.
It is about 5:30 am Sunday morning, the call to prayers, has woken me up.
Not sure what the plans are today, but we are meeting up with an ex Rosebud SC teacher,Tony Anderson, who is teaching in Istanbul.
Cheers,
A & K.
