Amorgos: Day 2 (Chora)

After a wander around Katapola we caught the local bus to Chora. Chora is the capital of the island and is about 6km East of Katapola, up high in the hills but close to the Eastern coast. Chora is also a little village. Initially we passed through Chora to go to the Panagia Monastery, which is built half way up a cliff facing the sea on the East coast.

From the monastety, we would have to wait for the next  bus, so we walked down to the beach called Agia Anna. A very pretty spot of the island. We got the bus back to  Chora.

Chora is a charming, quiet and picturesque village of narrow lanewsys, lots of churches, white buildings with blue trim and restaurants. We had lunch at a restaurant called Kath Odon, consisting of Tzatzicki,  falafel and zucchini  balls and in my opinion I don't think I've  ever had better falafel and tzatzicki!

We caught the bus back to Katapola and collected our swimming gear and went to Maltezi beach using the boat (€3.50 each return). Here we spent the rest of the afternoon swimming, sleeping,  sunbaking and drinking.

When we got back to our apartment, we freshened up and had a Pre-dinners drink and snack (really our entrĂ©e for our main meal). We ate at the same restaurant as last night, Galavas, and sat next to the water's  edge. A beautiful evening in Katapola.

Exploring the island in a car tomorrow looking forward to it.

Cheers,
A  &  K.

  1. I remember Greek Islands to be such relaxing places ........ There is no apparent work being done ....... Perhaps that explains it !
