This morning we caught the bus to Positano (even though Andy said he was not going on local bus again). Positano is about 45 minutes by bus but only about 20km in a straight line.
When we arrived in Positano it was very warm (low 30s only 11 am). We had a look around the town and Kristin bought a new bikini.
We then went to beach and it was sizzling. The black sand and pebbles were hot enough to be used for a Thai hot rock massage. The water was very cooling though. By 1 o'clock we had have enough of the beach and a quick look at the ferry timetable indicated we could catch the 1:30 ferry back to Amalfi (our plan was the 3:30 originally). Travelling over the water beats the bus hands down!
Back in Amalfi, we had a rest and Andy wasted the best part of 2 hours trying to book train tickets back to Rome on Monday using a dodgy wifi. When on the way out of the hotel Andy asked if there was anywhere he could book train tickets, and the recptionist informed him she could do it this here and then! 5 minutes later all booked and printed!!
We then went to the beach opposite our hotel, had a beer, sun-baked and had a swim. Tomorrow we intend to have beach day in Amalfi and hire sun-chairs and umbrella (~€15).
After a wash and a few beers on the balcony, we walk along the Amalfi waterfront before having a pre-dinner drink before dinner. Here we met an Aussie couple from Sydney and had a good chat to them. Before we knew it is was 11pm and we still hadn't eaten, so we went back to the same place as last night for pizza and bruchetta.
A late night (12:30) for us but the locals were just starting begin their evenings at the bars and cafes.
Cheers,
A & K.
